Train dry only — seated or lying down, never in or near water, and never while driving.

Welcome to Monk Apnea

Dry breath-hold training. Please read this first.

Stay safe

  • Train dry only. Never in or near water: not in a pool, bath, lake or the sea.
  • Sit or lie down, somewhere you can't fall or hit your head. Never while driving, standing, or doing anything else.
  • Holding your breath can make you black out without warning. Stop at dizziness, tingling, unusual vision or confusion.
  • Ask a doctor first if you have a heart or lung condition, high blood pressure, epilepsy, or are pregnant.
  • Monk Apnea is a training timer, not a medical or safety device.

Anonymous training data

To learn more about freediving and apnea, and how people train and progress, each session you do is shared as an anonymous record: the training, its settings, hold times, contractions and heart rate, the week it happened, and a rough picture of your progress (such as your personal best rounded to 15 seconds).

It never includes your name, email, account or device, and nothing links one record to another, so no record can be traced back to you. Your account is kept separate from it.

Your account

Next, you'll sign in with Google or an emailed link (no password). Your sessions, personal bests, tables and settings are saved to your account and kept in step on all your phones.

By tapping Accept & continue you agree to the Terms of Use, including the safety rules, and the Privacy Policy.

Breathing exercises

Follow the dot around the shape: moving up, breathe in; moving across, hold; moving down, breathe out. A soft voice or tone marks each change, so you can close your eyes.
